Under the heading Communications
in the 7th. paragraph of my Despatch No. 243, dated the
6th. October, 1905, transmitting the Estimates for the
year 1906, I stated that the provision of $30,000 in those
Estimates for extending Robinson Road at Kowloon (Item 17)
was for continuing to the North the work referred to in
paragraph 7 of my Despatch No. 346, dated the 20th.
04 September, 1904, a continuation which involved cutting
through a hill of considerable altitude.

I have now the honour to request
Your Lordship's sanction to deferring the execution of this
item and to devoting the funds thus released to certain
other work of more pressing importance in connection with
roads in Kowloon.
3.
It has become advisable that
Government should not now carry out the work of cutting
